There are many ways to officially join our team and become a proud PonyForLife!🐎 Any single option or combination of the following is totally up to you!

REQUIREMENTS! - Our only strict requirement is that your real life age MUST be 18+ years to join us. You may also identify with any thing/fandom/creature you prefer in Second Life, but a shared interest in My Little Pony and Furry topics is ideal because our partners and sponsors are mostly Pony and Furry related communities! ♥

HOW TO JOIN:

• OPTION 1: Join our group in Second Life. You'll get that snazzy title "PonyForLife!🐎" above your head and you won't miss the important stuff we send out in Group Notices like Fundraising Club ribbons that you've earned and any tools updates, trophies, and other swag during the season.

Ok! I've joined the team. Now, what can I do? 

EXTRA CREDIT

In Second Life: Contributing donations and asking for them from friends and family are NOT a requirement to join us. BUT if you want to go the extra mile and you own land or have a business in Second Life, you can set up a Donation Kiosk! And if you're a creator, you can even set up a Vendor Kiosk where 100% of the sale proceeds of your creation will go toward our team goal.

1. Go to American Cancer Society Island inSL and grab your free RFL Info HUD. You may alternatively ask Ember or any member in the RFL Volunteer group to hand you one directly. 😁
   
   
   
2.  Add/wear the HUD and click the link that says TOOL REQUESTER. From the popup, choose the appropriate Kiosk for your needs. (The most commonly used are the "Kiosk" and "Wall Kiosk" which we will further explain setup for in the following steps here.)
   
3. Let's setup your Kiosk! In your objects folder find your new "ACS RFL Kiosk - OFFICIAL" and rez it on your land. Give it a moment to load and ACCEPT debit permissions. If you do not accept, no one will be able to pay it! (When someone pays the kiosk, the money is paid to you and then you automatically send that payment to relayforlife AmericanCancer.)
   
   
   
4. After the Kiosk is loaded and you've accepted the debit permission, click the kiosk and select Configure. This will open your web browser and take you to the "American Cancer Society Fundraising Tool Configuration" page.
   
5. Choose our team Ponies For Life and select the Floating Text options for how you prefer the text to appear above your kiosk in world. We recommend having Team Total and Team Names checked so that potential donors can see their donation will be going toward our team! ♥
6. That's it, you're done setting up a donation kiosk!

 

EXTRA EXTRA CREDIT 

In Real Life: You can earn real life ACS swag if you create an account at ACSevents.org and officially Join Our Team there (or Sign In and rejoin our team if you've already registered for previous events in the past!) Account registration is a one time process, so if you have registered before all you have to do is Sign In and Join Our Team! Joining the team is a yearly/seasonal process and is not automatic just in case you want to join a different team in the future. ♥

So, if this is your first time creating an account, you don't even have to use your RL name and address if you prefer to use your Second Life identity instead. An alternative mailing address is also provided for you to use if you don't wish to use your RL address: 270 Peachtree St NW, Atlanta, GA 30303 (This is American Cancer Society's IRL headquarters address. And if you do earn RL swag at the end of the season, you'll get the option to enter in your actual shipping address separately from the address you used when registering.)

 So, you've completed registration and have joined our team! Now, you can customize your own page to tell everyone why YOU relay. Share your page with friends and family, and every donation you receive via your own personal page will count towards both you and our whole team! Also be sure to ask if your and/or your family's & friends' workplaces offer donation matching too because there's a dropdown to select participating companies when anyone submits a donation as well! ♥

I very strongly encourage you to take the time to fill in your personal thoughts on your page about why the cause is important to you even if you yourself aren't directly affected by cancer or someone who has been diagnosed because empathy goes a long way on the road to giving. And if you need any tips or help at all this season, please reach out to your Team Captain, Ember, in Second Life or on Discord. There are lots of folks in the Relay For Live Volunteers group who are eager to help too and it gets quite chatty in there! Our end goal is to eliminate cancer, and every dollar, Linden$, and even word of mouth introducing people to RFL of SL helps move us toward that end goal! And even though we are just one team out of hundreds in Second Life alone compared to the thousands outside of SL, all of our teams together really are ONE TEAM with ONE DREAM!
